One person has been confirmed dead in a fiery collision between a full petrol tanker and a car in central NSW this morning. Police said the petrol tanker exploded and caught fire after colliding with a car on Orange Road, east of Parkes, about 1am. The car was completely incinerated in the fire. Police said at least one person inside the car was killed but it was not known if there were any others. The truck driver was able to get out of the tanker and escape before it exploded. NSW Fire Brigades were still battling spot fires and continual explosions from the fire at 6am, police said. Hazardous materials firefighters were called in and Orange Road was closed to traffic. The truck driver was taken to Parkes Hospital for treatment to minor injuries while a number of fire fighters were treated at the crash site for smoke inhalation. Crime scene and crash investigation police were on their way to the site. Investigations into the incident were continuing.
